What “Mentions in Dispatches” is All About
As I mentioned in an earlier post, in almost every Western military organization during the 18th and 19th centuries, military personnel who performed some especially noteworthy action were honored by being ‘mentioned in dispatches’ back to the home country.
“Mentions for August 23”
Theresa Morrow, Women Against Prostate Cancer
For her efforts in trying to get media attention for our visit to the Capitol and for her efforts in getting women engaged in the prostate cancer awareness effort. Thanks, Theresa!
Marika Tornqvist, Patriot Harley-Davidson
For meeting with me on a day off and for her willingness to explore creating a prostate cancer awareness event. By the way, Patriot’s HOG group is the largest in Virginia, some 800 strong. Thanks, Marika
For being an early contributor and pulling out his antique Harley Sportster and becoming Rider #4 of the Tour de USA 2010 for Prostate Cancer Awareness. Thanks, Jim!
My Aunt Thelma and Uncle Carl
For 65.8 years of constant support and a great dinner when I need it. Thanks Aunt Thelma and Uncle Card!
Another great day on the road. I have two riders meeting me at the capitol in Richmond tomorrow morning. We will ride together through Columbia. South Carolina. Dick will be Rider #5 and Jeff, Rider #6.
Join me and become one of the select group of Hall of Fame Riders on the inaugural Tour de USA for Prostate Cancer Awareness.
